One Pocket

Only two of the six table pockets are used in the billiard game one pocket. This unique characteristic of the game makes it more challenging then other pool games and requires from its players appliances of variety of pool games techniques.

Object of the Game

One pocket is played with a standard set of billiard balls that consists of 15 numbered object balls and the cue ball. Each player is assigned one pocket before the game begins. The object of the game is to score 8 object balls in to one pocket.

Opening Break Shot

Before the opening break shot takes place, the breaking player has to choose one of the corner pockets on the foot end of the table. The chosen pocket will be the player's target pocket throughout the game. The breaker's opponent will be using the other corner pocket at the foot end of the table as target pocket.

The breaking player is required to cause an object ball to drop into his target pocket or to cause the cue ball to hit an object ball and then to cause an object ball to contact a cushion. If the player's opening break shot fails in meeting with these requirements, it is a foul.

One Pocket Rules

On any other shot except the opening break shot, the shooter must cause the cue ball to contact an object ball and then to pocket an object ball into the target pocket or to cause a ball to contact a cushion. If fails, it is a foul and the offending player will lose his turn at the table and will be penalized with an addition of one ball.

The player must pocket the object ball into his target pocket. Pocketing an object ball into any other pocket including the opponent's target pocket will not be counted and be seen as illegally pocketed balls. According to one pocket rules, illegally pocket balls are spotted.

The first player who scores 8 object balls into his target pocket, wins the game. A player who commits 3 successive fouls, loses the game.
