CALL SHOT

Type of billiard game in which the player is required to announce the ball he intends to pocket and/or the pocket he intends to shoot the ball; 8ball and 10ball pool are examples of call shot pool games.

CALLED BALL

The ball designated by the player on a call shot game

CALLED POCKET

The pocket the player had designated to shoot the ball into on a call shot game

CAROM

When the cue ball bounces off an object ball or a cushion

CENTER SPOT

The precise middle point on the playing surface of the pool table

CHALK

The powdery substance used to prevent the cue tip from slipping off the cue ball

COMBINATION

When the cue ball strikes a different ball than the ball to be pocketed and then that ball strikes one ball or more in order to score

CORNER HOOKED

When the corner of a pocket holds the player from shooting the cue ball directly towards an object ball. See also Angled

When the cue ball can be placed anywhere on the table

When the cue ball can be placed anywhere from the head string and the cushion on the head end of the table

CUE TIP

The leathery part attached to the shaft end of the cue the only part of the cue allowed to contact the cue ball on a shot
