1st World Pool Tournament in an African Country

Swaziland is going to be the host of two major pool tournaments in the upcoming year. The African country would host the World Cup Blackball and the All Africa Pool Association (AAPA) tournaments in August 2008.

For the first time in billiard history, a World Cup event will take place in an African country. Swaziland, in the South East of Africa has taken over European countries and won the bid to host both pool events, not only at the same year but even at the same month. The World Cup Blackball will start on the last day of the All Africa Pool Association event, on August 16th.

Mbongwa Dube, the General Secretary of the Billiards Association of Swaziland (BAS), has invited the neighboring countries to take the advantage of this primary opportunity and to participate in both pool tournaments. He added that the Billiards Association of Swaziland had failed in sending the local billiards team to previous world events, due to financial difficulties.

Both the AAPA tournaments and the World Cup Blackball are scheduled to August 2008. The AAPA event will commence on the 14th until the 16th. The World Cup will occur between August 16th and August 23rd. Preparations to both pool competitions are scheduled to begin at the end of February.
